Yes, there are religious and cultural connotations. But what exactly makes us be a part of it with all our zeal and enthusiasm?

First and foremost would be the break from routine. On a regular basis, our lives follow thesame pattern of home, office, school, and home. Doing it over and over again can be quite monotonous and cause undue stress and tension. Festivals help us to break free from the monotony. Thereís something more to do, to look forward to.

Secondly, festivals spread positivity. Our daily life sees a lot of negativity in the form of worry, anxiety and stress Ė be it work related, health related, finance related, or family related. This continuous negativity can be very harmful, and festivals and festivities put a break to that. At least for some time we are able to come out of our negative thinking and truly feel positive.Festive season is basically a great stress buster. Pretty often, people stop talking to each other for a small reason, and continue doing so, even when the original reason is forgotten. Festivals are a good time to let go of hard feelings and break the ice.

Festivals are also important in their inspiring us to reach out to the poorer sections of society.All religions encourage Ďgivingí at the time of festivals. If one shares their time and wealth at this time with the lesser fortunate, itís the best way to celebrate.
