What all should you pay for at your destination wedding

Destination weddings are expensive. Full stop! When you decide to go for one, keep in mind that your budget will not only have to fit in all you’ve planned for, but a little and some extra.

The word destination wedding by itself evokes lavishness and expense. From the wedding proper to the smallest details like flowers and decor, there’s a lot you’ll be paying for. Here’s a quick list of what all you should expect to pay for at your Destination Wedding in India:-

The bridesmaid’s dresses – While this is not a compulsory expense, asking your guests to pay a hefty sum for a designer dress designed for a specific occasion is a bit too much. If you have a little extra left over in your budget, paying for the bridesmaids dresses is a nice gesture.

Welcome dinner – If you’ve invited them for dinner, you pay for it. That goes for a normal meal too, why just a wedding. If your guests are making an effort to attend it, courtesy demands you pay for their meal. After all, “you” invited them.

Transportation to the venue – If the wedding is at a different place from the resort where you’ve put up your guests, arranging for their transport to the venue is your responsibility. In any case it’s a new place for your guests (most of them at least), and they wouldn’t easily know how to arrange to get there. Get your wedding coordinator to handle this for you.

Travel expenses – This is again not a compulsory expense. If your guests are well to do, they’ll probably themselves refuse your offer to pay for their travelling. In this case, you could arrange to get them in touch with a travel operator who can give bulk tickets on discount and so on. But if there is someone who you’d really like to be there at your wedding, but they do not have the resources to pay for the trip to the destination, paying for their transport is a good idea, and usually a much appreciated gesture.

The wedding itself – Usually the wedding expenses are taken care of by the parents of the bride and groom. But if their budget was more suited to a local church wedding, they might be hesitant to fork out the large sum needed for a destination wedding. In that case, you would have to take care of that, too.
